Overview

Michael K. Breen concentrates his practice in commercial real estate, corporate and commercial transactions, and land use. He represents landlords and tenants in office, retail, and industrial lease transactions and advises businesses on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters. He also serves as General Counsel to an international manufacturing trade association and lectures frequently on commercial transaction topics.

Mr. Breen joined the firm after working for SJP Properties, a prominent real estate developer based in Parsippany, New Jersey. There he was responsible for the leasing and sale of large office and other commercial properties, both build-to-suit and speculative, including the negotiation and preparation of leases and related agreements.

Mr. Breen began his career as law clerk to the Honorable Nicholas J. Mandak, A.J.S.C., Assignment Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Passaic County. He then practiced as a personal injury litigator with a leading New Jersey law firm, experience that continues to inform how he drafts and negotiates agreements.

Mr. Breen is a licensed commercial real estate broker in New Jersey and a member of the Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Counsel.

Mr. Breen served for many years on the Board of Trustees of Dominican University New York in Orangeburg, New York.  A citizen of both the United States and Ireland, Mr. Breen is active in many Irish-American organizations.  He volunteers as a director of Mary’s Gift Irish Language Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity supporting Irish-language schools in northern Ireland.  In 2025, IrishCentral named him to its “Legal Elite” and presented him with its Outstanding Community Service Award.
